Things that make me Smile.

A smile is a doorway to the soul.

Ashley has been reading my blog posts and she pointed out that most of my recent blogs have had a negative tone. It's true that I often use this medium to rant about whatever is irking me (everybody needs an outlet...I'm sure even Joel Osteen feels like punching people in the face every now and then), but I mostly want this forum to be positive, uplifting and encouraging, so I've decided to dedicate this post to a few of my favorite things. This is an abbreviated list of things that make me smile...

1. Jesus

2. My hot wife and two awesome little boys.

3. Will Ferrell movies.

4. Blizzards from Dairy Queen (particulary Cookie Doh & Cookies N'Cream).

5. Naps on Sunday afternoons.

6. That feeling you get after jogging (though jogging itself is NOT on the list).

7. Mexican food.

8. Old Saturday Night Live shows.

9. Wrestling with my boys.

10. Wrestling with my wife (yeah, I mean what you think I mean).

11. Living 8 hours away from my In-Laws (just kidding...but seriously...).

12. Sunsets.

13. Making people laugh.

14. Australian accents.

15. Good wine (or "juice" depending on your translation of Scripture).

16. Friendly people.

17. Good customer service.

18. Cheering for the Underdog.

19. Well-executed pranks.

20. Babies' laughter.

This is some of my list, but what I really want to know is YOUR list. Post some of your "smile list" under "Comments" for this post. The more we can make each other smile, the brighter this world will be. Remember, most smiles are started by other smiles, so smile more often today.

Some of my favorite things (in no particular order). . .

1. raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. . . wait, that's been done!

2. Jovey having fully coherent, at times "adult" conversations with me when I am in need of just that!

3. Laney's dimple. . yep, just one.

4. Bright, sunshiney days that means lots of outside time.

5. Getting away with just Joshua to be "young" again, or at least pre-kiddos.

6. Joshua's wrinkles around his eyes when he smiles, or sometimes, even giggles (my fav!).

7. A fat gree chai latte from starbucks.

8. Awesome friends.

9. Playing with Joshua's Wii (guitar hero III rocks. . . what?)

10. Spending time with Christ, just soaking up His greatness!

I could go on, but these are just a few of the things that make me smile!

1. Watching my kids do something for the first time.

2. Listing to the girls when they are laughing (especially when they laugh so hard they can hardly breath.)

3. Watching Trey with the girls.

4. When I look in the mirror (after I've been working out religiously) and notice that I no longer have 4 butt cheeks. lol

5. Dave's sermons b/c he always makes me laugh or smile at least once.

6. The overwhelming feeling I get in church when I feel the Holy Spirit very strong with me for that moment.

7. Making others laugh.

8. Volunteering at the Nursing Home (they are too funny there.)

9. Knowing I made a difference in someones life by helping them.

10. My blonde/air-headed comments that I make ALL THE TIME (I can be pretty dingy at times.)

11. The beach/vacation

12. Taking road trips
by myself (b/c I can listen to the radio as loud as I want, roll the windows down, and I don't have to stop every other exit to take someone to the bathroom. That REALLY makes me smile.)

13. When Trey tells me something sweet.

14. Shopping/cute shoes

15. Jogging (I'm with you on this one, Dave.)

JUST TO NAME A FEW! :O)

There's a difference between things that make me smile, and things that make me happy. Here's what makes me smile:

1. Watching children play.
2. Really well-played and technical music.
3. Hearing good stories about funny situations.
4. Hearing good stories about people i love succeeding or winning or just being happy.
5. Seeing people get happy because of something i did.
6. Thinking about the amazing future i trust God to give me.

Well I could on for seconds here, minutes even, but to keep the ranting and raving to a minimum here is my top nine things that make me smile (I hate top ten lists):

1. When my close friends listen to my counsel and still consider me a close friend.

2. Dave Campbell's inability to focus on a subject for more than 30seconds at a time

3. POWER CHORDS (Rockstar for God baby (c) Mark D. Rucker 2008)

4. My daughter's servant's heart.

5. My son's ability to overcome any obstacle.

6. When my wife looks at me and says "Goose you big stud. Take me to bed or lose me forever."

7. When Cooper says "Hello Sparky" even though he's 800 miles away.

8. When I share my belief in Christ with someone and I see that they want to know more.

9. Knowing that God never gave up on me, the Prodigal Son.

What a fun idea!
I have a laundry list of things that make me smile ... here are a few :

**Working out

**Praise and Worship at the Creek

**Watching my hubby do the weather (especially when it's bad weather and he rolls his sleeves up!)

**Knowing that I'm FREE because of His blood!

**When I'm about to discipline my little guy, Harrison, and he says "please show me mercy like God shows us mercy everyday!" !!!

**When my daughter, Elizabeth, encourages me on a bad day!

**Good friends

**Taking a nap

....I could go on and on. But, I'll spare boredom!

"Things that make me Smile" is the fact that Will Ferrell comes in a close third to Jesus and that wrestling with my wife is #10. Ha ha.
